MTV India will broadcast METALLICA’s first-ever concert in India.
The channel, in association with F1 Rocks, will telecast the one-hour special of historic METALLICA performance one week after the live event.
Following a nationwide search which culminated in 250 rock groups battling it out on MTV India for a prestigious opening slot at Metallica‘s first ever show in India this Friday, a local Delhi band has been selected to play alongside their heroes at F1 Rocks in India with Vladivar.
The frontman of New Delhi based death metal quintet Guillotine admitted to being “speechless” when the band was announced as the winners of the competition staged by Talenthouse India.
Singer Karan Mambiar told The Times of India that his band was super excited about the opportunity to be playing on their home ground alongside Metallica adding, “We usually play death metal mixed with jazz, funk, blues and electronics, and that’s what we’ll play at the concert too. We usually pick up social issues through our songs and we’ll try and do the same here. It’s our crowd, and we want to ensure they have a good time.”
Acclaimed Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro has also been added to the line-up for this one-off concert and will play directly before Metallica. In a posting on their official website, the platinum selling power trio said: “We are very excited to announce that Biffy Clyro will take a short break from writing and demoing new tracks to play their first shows in India.”
In addition Delhi based DJ Siddharth will be taking time out from his resident slot at the city’s Cafe Morrison to spin tunes from the stage in between the three bands’ appearances. Speaking of the opportunity, Siddharth said: “The Indian underground rock scene is my chosen genre and on a stage like this, I want to put forth non-commercial bands. I want to use this platform as well as I can.”
