Lady Gaga has revealed that is has been listening to heavy metal bands from the 1980′s as she begins working on new material.

The ‘Born This Way’ star has long been a fan of all things rock and even worked with Queen’s Brian May on her last album. He lent his skills on the track You and I.

This time around she is being inspired by Sheffield legends Def Leppard.

“With my music there’s lots of really big Def Leppard-style melodies in the choruses but it’s electronic dance music. I’d call it avant-garde techno rock. It is very hard and very edgy,” Gaga revealed.

“There are a lot of rock influences on the album but not that it is rock music.

“It is an exploration of electronic music and techno songs but I have created a genre of metal/dance/techno/rock/pop music with a lot of anthemic choruses, because that is actually the music I love.”

She became hooked on the Sheffield rock band after her dad Joe blasted their vinyl to the family in New Jersey.

Gaga is so impressed with the group she even brought their producer Mutt Lance onside.

We will be keeping watch to see if the ecentric singer and the Leppard camp get together for a track.
