Blink-182‘s Australian tour is a done deal with confirmation coming on Soundwave’s official Facebook page.
“So, there’s the news everyone has been hanging for BLINK 182 are confirmed for Soundwave 2013,” read the post.
Rumors of drummer Travis Barker not playing the dates were squashed yesterday with a straight forward tweet from Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah himself, which was a yes: Mark, Tom and Travis will be visiting Australia this February.
In 2008 Barker was involved in a horrific plane accident that killed four passengers and almost took his own life. He no longer flies, and admits it’s a big problem for him considering his touring lifestyle.
His fear of flying is known to many of his fans, and has often hindered his ability to tour. His recent interview with Red Bulletin Magazine is quite touching, and reveals his full acceptance of the problem and the realisation that it’s not just effecting him, but also his children, who also seem to have taken on some of his trauma from the experience.
More respect to the guy who is trying to get over his fear for the love of the fans and what he loves to do more than anything – play the drums!
In regards to a formal announcement, festival boss AJ Maddah says they’ll be unveiling the complete Soundwave 2013 line-up in the next week. So stay tuned.
