Countdown to Download 2011

It’s my favourite time of year – my tent has been aired, my rucksack is packed with the essentials with also the additional must haves – baby wipes, head torch (purely comical when drunk and acts a temp strobe light), water, batiste dry shampoo and of course BEER!

It is 2 more sleeps before the Sidesixx crew descend on the Download festival grounds and we couldn’t be more excited even though the news of rain on the Friday and Saturday is not something that I want to hear.

I myself have been going to Download since 2009 and it has become one of my top 3 festivals to go to each year.

AC/DC popular with great white sharks?

Yes you read the title of this post correctly. Apparently the mammoth rock band are really popular with the Carcharodon carcharias – also known as the great white shark.

News.co.au posted the following – A tourism operator on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula says that music by the Aussie rockers attracts the predators more than anything else – even fish bait.

The sharks are particularly attracted to If You Want Blood and You Shook Me All Night Long, apparently because of their low frequencies.

UK Record Store Day – April 16 2011

Record Store Day is a celebration of independent record stores and the way they contribute to music, with this day seeing them secure hundreds of exclusive items from record labels which are only available through participating stores.

It is a global event which sees over a thousand record stores taking part across 18 countries and four continents.

More than 150 UK indie record stores took part in last year’s event and over 180 are signed up for this year. This year’s Record store Day takes place on Saturday 16th April.

Angus Young – We Salute You

While going through my emails and checking the news feeds, I noticed that this day 1974 – was the stage debut of Angus Young’s now iconic school uniform.

A suggestion from his sister Margaret, after Malcolm asked each band member to come up with their own gimmick – he wore the outfit on stage at a gig in Sydney’s Victoria Park.

The original uniform was from his secondary school, Ashfield Boys High School in Sydney.
