Megadeth’s Shawn Drover Talks About His Influences

La Boite Noire conducted an interview with MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover at this year’s edition of the Hellfest festival, which took place June 15-17 in Clisson, France.

MEGADETH was among the nominees for the 54th annual Grammy Awards, which was held on February 12 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The band’s tenth Grammy nomination was for its single “Public Enemy No. 1″, off MEGADETH’s latest album, “TH1RT3EN”, which came out on November 1, 2011.

Download announce more bands

Just when you think it can’t get any better – the next line up announcement comes from the Download Festival camp.

Added to the bill are Rise Against, Slash and Steel Panther to name a few and the festival has really become the one to beat this year.

The festival, which will be headlined by The Prodigy, Metallica and a reunited Black Sabbath, takes place over the weekend of June 8-10 at Donington Park.

Sonisphere takes home ‘Line up of the Year’ at the UK Festival Awards

The great and the good of the UK Festival industry were out in force tonight at London’s Roundhouse to celebrate the eighth annual UK Festival Awards, which followed the Festival Conference, which took place during the day.

Hosted by The Cuban Brothers, the event saw 16 trophies handed out throughout the evening, which featured exclusive comedy performances by Trevor Lock, Luke Benson and a closing set from John Cooper Clarke. Seven awards were announced during the Festival Conference.

The only double winner of the UK Festival Awards – Derbyshire’s Y-Not Festival – received the awards for both ‘The Grass Roots Festival Award’ (in association with ID&C) and ‘Best Toilets’ (In association with Shewee), having expanded from one scaffold stage and a handmade DJ booth in a disused quarry to three stages and more than 80 bands. These awards were announced at the Festival Conference.

Megadeth – Public Enemy Number 1

Thirteen (written as TH1RT3EN) is the thirteenth studio album from Megadeth.

The first single to be taken off the album is “Public Enemy No. 1″. The video was filmed on September 17 in Santa Clarita, California, shot on a movie set where old Westerns are filmed.

“TH1RT3EN” was recorded at Mustaine’s Vic’s Garage studio in San Marcos, California with producer Johnny K, who has previously worked with DISTURBED, SEVENDUST, MACHINE HEAD and STAIND, among others.

Diamond Head re-issue of Lightning to the Nations

Anyone who is into rock and metal music who hasn’t heard of Diamond Head must of been living under a huge rock for the last 30 years!

Formed in Stourbridge England in 1976, the band are recognised as one of the leading members of the NWOBHM.

Diamond Head never achieved the heights that some of the lesser talents acts did but in no way does that mean that they are not relevant.
