Metallica will not perform Black Album in full at Soundwave

According to Australia’s Music Feeds, Soundwave festival promoter AJ Maddah has confirmed that Metallica will not perform its 1991 self-titled effort in its entirety at this year’s event, despite widespread rumors to the contrary.

Maddah confirmed the news via his Twitter account on Friday after a fan quizzed him on rumors that appeared on a Metallica fan forum, indicating that the Soundwave slots were not going to be Black Album shows.

“Not a rumor. They’re not doing Black album,” Maddah tweeted.

Metallica Master of Puppets Performance Clip From Quebec Magnetic DVD

On December 10, METALLICA will release a live DVD called “Quebec Magnetic” through the band’s newly launched Blackened Recordings label.

The double DVD and single disc Blu-ray will be available for a price a “very METALLICA fan-friendly” price — suggested retail will be $15.98 for either format.

Filmed by Wayne Isham during a two-night stand in October of 2009 in Quebec City, it will be METALLICA’s first self-released project. “We just played two really phenomenal shows. They were outrageously great and the audience was great and we had a bunch of people filming it,” METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett told Billboard.com. “We felt like we’re really doing a disservice just sitting on this great live footage, so we decided to put it out.”

Kirk Hammett Confirms New Metallica Album News

Kirk Hammett has confirmed that Metallica will start work on their new album “soon”.

The band, who are currently working on a 3D film project, which is in the hands of Predators director Nimród Antal, will start work on the follow-up to 2008′s ‘Death Magnetic’ soon, Hammett told Rolling Stone.

Lars Ulrich had already commented that the band already had “tons of ideas sitting around”, he said:

Metallica Footage From Vancouver For 3D Movie

METALLICA‘s August 24, August 25 and August 27 concerts at Rogers Arena were shot in 3D for the band’s upcoming feature-film project.

The group earlier in the year tapped award-winning director Nimród Antal to helm the movie. Charlotte Huggins (“Journey To The Center Of The Earth”, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”) is producing.

The film will be a marriage of narrative and concert and will star the “five” members of METALLICA — James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo, and the fans.

Slayer and Many More Added to the Soundwave Festival Line Up

Fast becoming one of the biggest and best line up’s of 2013 – Soundwave Festival organisers have finally announced the second round of artists to join the likes of Blink-182, The Offspring and Metallica, amongst other stunning first announcement acts.

Over 20 bands were named in the second announcement and pretty much all of them have managed to make a festival even bigger. Not that it needed it!

Joining the bill for the event are Slayer, Bullet For My Valentine, Billy Talent and Bring Me The Horizon, Mindless Self Indulgence, Amity Affliction, and Sick Of It all to name a few.
