So far, more than 40,000 people have signed up to a group on Facebook which is encouraging people to download Nirvana best-known song, Smells Like Teen Spirit, in the week leading up to the Christmas number 1.
‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ has been given 6/1 odds to top this year’s chart.
A similar campaign in 2009 helped Rage Against the Machine beat X Factor winner Joe McElderry to the Christmas No. 1. It resulted in the group selling 500,000 downloads of their single Killing In The Name, 50,000 more than McElderry received and seen the band hit the road again after huge support from fans.
