Revolver Golden Gods Award Show 2012 – Winners and more

The fourth annual REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARD SHOW presented by Epiphone® took place last night (April 11) at Club Nokia in Downtown Los Angeles. For the first time ever, the event was broadcast live in its entirety on Xbox LIVE, as well as on the Xbox and Revolver Facebook pages.

Hosting duties for the GOLDEN GODS awards show was handled by FOZZY frontman and WWE pro-wrestling legend Chris Jericho, who returned for the third consecutive year.

In what could possibly be the band’s only performance of 2012, and their first in 4 years, the wait was over as Sixx:A.M. fans as the band opened the show. They performed their new single “Are You With Me Now” and the top 10 active rock hit “This Is Gonna Hurt.” Nikki Sixx is also up for the “Best Bassist” award and won – much to our delight.

“I’ve always loved the concept of taking a song that is already successful and familiar with listeners, and doing something different with it to change its focus,” says Sixx:A.M. vocalist/guitarist James Michael about ’7,’ the trio’s new EP.

Allen Kovac – Tenth Street Entertainment/Eleven Seven Music

When I was studying music business in University I came across the work of Allen Kovac. As a believer that once a band is represented properly – they really can go as far as they are willing to take it. Case in point – Allen Kovac and Tenth Street Management.

In case you hadn’t guessed already – I am abit of a Crue fan – a bit being a massive understatement! Growing up I never thought I would get the chance to see them live but in the last few years I have been lucky enough to see them three times (including one incredible night in Madison Square Garden) and hopefully with more chances to see them in the future.

If you have read The Dirt or Nikki Sixx’s Heroin Diaries you will discover how the band became a victim of label and management greed after years of earning millions of dollars for other people. Alot of massive bands at the time suffered the same faith with a few being major casulties of this treatment and being left with nothing on the other side after years of touring and massive album sales and even some unfortunate deaths. Management preferred to keep the bands on the road at all cost – regardless of the safety of the band members. Of course times have changed and with digital downloads changing the face of music sales, and the rise of celebrity press making it harder to push scandelous behaviour under the table and touring taking over as a must for bands to survive – it is important now more than ever for bands to have a great team behind them.
