Metallica – Stade De France, Paris

The first time I ventured into a gig at the Stade De France was for U2 on the 360 tour in 2010. I was completely blown away by the stadium and the experience that I had that night.

I had said to my friend that if Metallica were ever to announce a date here that I would be at it in a heartbeat!

Fast forward 2 years and I find myself in Paris to see Metallica play the Stade De France. Although not the biggest of stadium’s in the world, what impresses me most about the venue is the ease to get to it using the metro and how well the crowd are organised and also the personal touches.

U2 – Stade De France, Paris

When the mammoth 360 Tour rolled around to Dublin the previous summer, I was devastated that I was too sick to make it down onto the pitch and into the pit. I was seated for the gig and this is not a place that I like to be at any gig!

I have a long time love affair with U2. For all the slack that they get and how sometimes you wish that Bono would just shut up and get on with it – one thing that will always stand to them is that you can’t argue why this band is called one of the greatest live bands on earth. With this is mind myself and a good friend of mine who is crazy about U2, started talking about heading along to another date on this tour outside of Ireland and Paris was our choice.

With support from the brilliant and always impeccably dressed Interpol – you know you are in for a brilliant night.
